FAQ

  • As of now, Ruins functions as a pop-up-only business. We do not currently have a permanent physical location. However, we regularly do pop-ups at Wobble Hi-fi, Rubble Art Collective, and other spaces around the Front Range. Check out our calendar for updated events!

  • There are many ways to support Ruins Books. Become a supporter on our Patreon and help sustain radical ideas in Fort Collins. Buy audiobooks through our Libro.fm affiliate & buy books online through our Bookshop.org profile!

You can also tell your friends who you think would like Ruins!

  • As Fort Collins’ first radical bookstore, Ruins aims to circulate high quality works of radical fiction, nonfiction, poetry, & more. These works engage in questions of social issues, climate change, race & class, and dare to imagine a world free from capitalist domination.

At a Ruins pop-up, our hope is that you find something new, with challenging ideas and fresh perspectives. Stay curious!

  • Port-manteau of "information" and "shop", an infoshop is a place where people can access radical ideas through posters, zines, fliers, pamphlets and books, which can be for sale, donation, or free. Academic Chris Atton describes the infoshop as a "forum for alternative cultural, economic, political and social activities."

While the modern form of the infoshop traces back to the 1960's & 70's–Lucy Parsons Center in Boston ('69), Spartacus Books in Vancouver ('73) and  Jura Books in Sydney are still open today– the tradition goes back as far as the 1600's with Giles &  Elizabeth Calvert's print workshop.

  • As opposed to traditional bookselling, Ruins places an emphasis on community needs, interests, & content, taking direct recommendations from community members. In short, it highlights our goal to serve & grow our community.

  • Soon! As of now what’s in our shop is all we are selling online. However, stay tuned for updates on this!
